Lagos to Ibadan Train Schedule, Cost, and Train Stations

The Lagos to Ibadan train service, which began full operations on June 15, 2021, runs 4 trips a day.

On weekdays and Saturdays, there are two trips: one in the morning departing at 8.00 am and an afternoon trip departing at 4.00 pm. On Sundays, the schedule is the same with a morning departure at 8.00 am and an afternoon departure at 4.00 pm from Mobolaji Johnson Station in Alagomeji, Lagos.

The train makes several stops, including at Babatunde Raji Fashola Station in Agege, Wole Soyinka Station in Abeokuta, Samuel Ladoke Akintola Station in Omi-adio, and finally stops at Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan.

This schedule follows the same pattern as the Lagos to Ibadan route, with two trips each day – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The journey includes several stops along the way before reaching the final destination.

Lagos To Ibadan Train Ticket Cost

The ticket prices differ according to the class of service and the specific journey. For the Lagos to Ibadan trip, tickets range from N3,000 for a standard minor ticket to N9,000 for a first-class ticket. The standard adult ticket is priced at N3,600. Similarly, for the Ibadan to Lagos trip, the prices remain the same. For journeys between Lagos and Abeokuta or Ibadan and Abeokuta, the prices are adjusted accordingly. There are different coaches for the various classes: the 24-seater coaches are designated for First Class, the 56- and 68-seater coaches for Business Class, and the 88-seater coaches are for Standard Class passengers​.

Train Route/Stations

Obafemi Awolowo Station Moniya, Ibadan.

The journey begins at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Alagomeji, Ebute Metta, Lagos, and then stops at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Train Station in Agege, Lagos. It continues to the Wole Soyinka Train Station in Abeokuta, the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Train Station in Omi Adio, Ibadan, and finally reaches the Obafemi Awolowo Train Station in Moniya, Ibadan. Additional stations at Olodo, Kajola, and Papalanto are currently under construction.
